Peter King’s NFL Predictions: Detroit Lions Go 10-6, Make Playoffs

Earlier this NFL preseason, SI’s Peter King said that he thought the might have a shot at the Super Bowl. A couple of weeks later, his confidence hasn’t waned.

In his 2011 NFL season predictions, King picked the Lions to finish 10-6 — one game back of Green Bay in the NFC North — and claim a wild-card spot. He has Detroit bowing out to Philadelphia in the first round of the postseason.

Considering Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since 1999, any trip to the postseason would be a major victory for the franchise.

King has the Bears coming in at 8-8, with Minnesota claiming last in the NFC North at 6-10. Joining Detroit, Green Bay and Philadelphia in the NFC playoffs, according to King, will be the Saints, Falcons and Rams. King then has Atlanta downing New Orleans in the NFC title game and beating San Diego in the Super Bowl.
