As the horn sounded to end Nashville’s Game 1 playoff victory over the Detroit Red Wings, Predators defenseman Shea Weber pulled off a move that could put his status for Game 2 in jeopardy. After a scrum with Henrik Zetterberg in the corner, Weber punched Zetterberg in the back of the head, then slammed the Wings’ alternate captain into the glass.
Weber was assessed a two-minute roughing penalty — more or less a meaningless call, as time had expired — and Zetterberg stayed down on the ice, dazed, before skating off while yelling in the direction of the Predators.
