The 40-year-old Alfredsson, Detroit’s big pickup this offseason, has been nursing a sore groin through training camp. He likely will be back out of the lineup Saturday night, though the Wings expect him to play in Wednesday’s season opener at the Joe, against the Sabres.
Defenseman Danny DeKeyser, who tweaked his knee in the Wings’ 5-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, will not suit up Friday night. Detroit still hopes to have him ready for Game 1 of the regular season.
