Anibal Sanchez’s start against the Oakland A’s in Game 3 of the ALDS was one of the worst of his season. He’ll get a chance to redeem himself in Game 1 of the ALCS against Boston.

There was no immediate word on how the rest of the Tigers’ rotation will set up, but it’s safe to guess that Max Scherzer would go in Game 2, followed by Justin Verlander and Doug Fister in Games 3 and 4. Scherzer starting on Sunday would give him four days rest after his relief appearance in Game 4 vs. Oakland.
Lefty Jon Lester is expected to start Game 1 for the Red Sox. The rest of Boston’s rotation for the playoffs includes Clay Buchholz, John Lackey and former White Sox starter Jake Peavy.
Update: Yahoo’s Jeff Passan relayed the full pitching matchups for Games 1 through 4:
ALCS pitching matchups: G1: Lester vs. Anibal. G2: Buchholz vs. Scherzer. G3: Lackey vs. Verlander. G4: Peavy vs. Fister.

Presumably, the matchups in Games 1, 2, and 3 then would roll over for Games 5, 6 and 7, respectively.
