Bruce Rondon, Detroit Tigers Relevier, Needs Tommy John Surgery

’ setup man is set to have Tommy John surgery and is done for the year, according to Dave Dombrowski.

Rondon was set to be the setup man for a revamped Detroit Tigers bullpen and was injured last year in the playoffs. A statement from Dombrowski said Rondon felt discomfort on Monday and it came up suddenly on Tuesday. Rondon, who is the closer of the future and throws 100-mph consistently, was injured last year with swelling but looked good to go in Spring Training.

The injury is a big blow for a low Tigers bullpen and now opens up a spot for guys like Evan Reed who were currently on the roster bubble.
